Rossman Water Book
This information on water levels and weather in the Mississippi Headwaters region was developed in 1992 by George Rossman of Grand Rapids and is now available online in cooperation with Bemidji State University. The Water Books Project is funded by a grant from the Blandin Foundation.

Riverine Emergency Management Model
FREE software to access a database model developed primarily for Time-Of-Travel and Spill Response On River Systems. The model currently covers the Mississippi River from Grand Rapids to Minneapolis. The travel-time portion will increase your awareness of just how long it takes to get from one point on the river to another point downstream for various flow conditions. Headwaters Science Center
Located near the headwaters of the Mississippi River, Headwaters Science Center is a non-profit facility under a parent organization called Opportunities in Science, Inc. HSC is dedicated to science education and environmental awareness. Opened in 1994, it is the only such facility between Winnipeg and the Twin Cities. HSC is affiliated with the Association of Science and Technology Centers.

Itasca State Park
Managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources,
Itasca was the first state park in Minnesota. Originally set aside to protect the timber, Itasca State Park now preserves the Headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi River.
